Google provides Free Wifi in New York City. Today Google CIO, Ben Fried, discussed at a press conference the implementation of a Google Free Public WiFi in Chelsea in NYC, New York. The new WiFi network will be available from Gansevoort Street to 19th Street, from Eighth Avenue to the West Side Highway and includes the Chelsea Triangle and the 14th Street Park.
Ben Fried, CIO of Google and a native New Yorker said, “Google is proud to provide free WiFi in the neighborhood we have called home for over 6 years. This network will not only be a resource for the 2000 plus residents….” and “hundreds of workers, retail customers and tourists who visit our neighborhood every day.”
On behave of SoTechie Spaces, a NYC Coworking Space, we honor New York City Mayor Bloomberg and Google for pushing us closer to the bigger Technology Center in the World. As stated today by May Bloomberg “Second is not a word we like…You could make it your biggest office and we would be thrilled.” New York City’s Chief Digital Officer, Rachel Sterne, will assist in the support of New York City’s digital innovations, which should be much more to come.
